The Siege of Fort Mifflin Is Rememebered 248 Years Later

After defeating George Washington and his Continental Army in two battles, British General William Howe takes the most important of cities in the American Colonies, Philadelphia. Taking possession of residential homes, he waits there while his supplies are shipped up the Delaware River. Before reaching Philadelphia, those supply ships have to get past the River defences that consisted of Fort Billings, Fort Mercer, and Fort Mifflin. With a thousand cannon balls coming over the wall each hour, the battle became known as the biggest bombardment during The American Revolution. History remembers it as The Siege of Fort Mifflin.
