Celebrating The Life of Rev. Al

Conshohocken, Pa
We lost Rev. Al last October, and it still seems unreal. With the news, we all grieved separately in the months that followed. Today, we all gathered to mourn together. There were memories shared, and there were tears shed. Despite our sorrow, we needed to celebrate all he brought into our lives. The joy, the laughter, and most importantly, the music. Musicians from all over the Greater Philadelphia Area shared the stage to remember the heavenly experience that only Rev. Al could provide. Those keys will never be tickled the same way again.
The day after these photos were finished, while I was at work, the song "6th Avenue Heartache" by The Wallflowers randomly came on.
I have so many memories of Al playing that song during one of the best periods in my life. When I "worked" for the band, I really felt like I was a part of something. I was learning from all of them about all the music I never knew. I learned how to deal with the people who supported them. When the song began to play, I felt Al thanking me for doing what I did. I could feel him saying, "Thanks, 'Bone" with that crooked smile on his face.
I met all of them when I was 17 years old. I turned 48 the day of his celebration. This was one birthday I was not looking forward to. I was there when they would play to an empty house, and I was there when they founded The Road Dogs. Sadly, we have now lost two of them. All I can do is think back to the last perfect night. The Road Dogs Christmas Extravaganza 2019. It was before the world stopped. I got to see my father play on stage for the first time, Rev. Al tickling the keys, Rick Toy making that guitar talk, the Fisher Family was all there together, and the stars were all aligned. Life was good.
