“Fire In The Sky”

Every one of us is surrounded by a world that we have created. Sometimes, not by choice, but by responsibilities. We have our family, our job, our bills, and our hobbies. We rush from one thing to another at speeds that are so fast, we can not see anything outside of our bubble. We get up in the morning, and as we rush to work, our minds are filled with all we will have to deal with when we get there. When the work day is over, we rush home while playing through the things we have to deal with when we get there.
If our mind is not on what we are dealing with, we are watching reports of things in the world that mankind created. Politics, crime, celebrity gossip. The list goes on and on. We try to stay current on the latest social media trends that seem to change as fast as we can blink.
Every now and again, we need a reminder that there is a world beyond the human race. Usually separated by a window of a house or a car, it's out there begging to be noticed. When her feeble attempts fail, Mother Nature has to do something grand, something so big that it absolutely can not be ignored. It's as if she is yelling to you, "HEY! REMEMBER ME?! I'M STILL HERE!" It's those moments that force us to put life on hold, if only for a few minutes, to admire just how beautiful this world still is. It reminds us that, regardless of what chemical compounds we put together to create our own synthetic light show to celebrate special occasions, nothing compares to the epic light show that Mother Nature can provide.
There doesn't have to be an achievement that we have accomplished as a local, national, or even global community. In these moments, none of that matters. In fact, NOTHING else matters. Not the problems we face, not the issues we are dealing with. Nothing. In these moments, we are forced to enjoy a quiet moment to ourselves, to appreciate all the beauty in this world that Mother Nature provides.
So, the next time it happens, stop and enjoy that Fire In The Sky.
