During a period of 24- hour snowfall, a mother sits for hours in the cold, sitting on top of this covered barbecue grill. She sits motionless, just watching. This is a sign that her babies are near-by. No enemy is too big, she will attack anyone that comes near her children. She will protect them or at the very LEAST, die trying. It may be cold, but the cold means nothing to her compared to the lives of her young ones. Baby squirrels, also known as kits or kittens, are completely vulnerable when brought into this world. Kits are born without the sense of sight. Born blind, they depend on their mother to act as their eyes for them. She is the only one they can trust. She will be their best friend for life, and make no mistake, her babies can do no wrong. No matter what, she will defend her kits because in her eyes, they are and always will be perfect little angels. If a kit has a problem in life, they will never face it alone, for Mom will be right beside them to help them through it. Her kittens are the ONLY thing in this world that matter to her. The cold means nothing to her as long as her kids are safe, sound and taken care of. She knows that she has the most important job in the world. She is a Vigilant Mother.
