“Schofield Ford Covered Bridge”

In Lower Bucks County, Pa, sits 1,711-acres that was originally used as farmland. In 1974, the farmland was designated as Tyler State Park. The original farm houses remain scattered throughout the park and are rented out as private residences. Running right through the park is Neshaminy Creek. In order for the farmers to get their crops over this creek, a covered bridge was built in 1873. In October 1991, the bridge fell victim to arson. Reconstructed as close to the original as possible, the bridge re-opened in 1997. Not long after the re-opening, I met my buddies Geoff & Andy, who I started my hiking career with. They introduced me to this bridge and I’ve been coming back ever since.
When I was at some of the lowest points in my life, I didn’t stay depressed, I’d hike it out. Year after year, heartbreak after heartbreak, the Schofield Ford Covered Bridge has always been there for me. When my wife and I were still dating, I brought her here and had a picnic. Then we brought our kids here to discover its beauty. If that bridge could talk, I’d love to sit and listen to the stories it could tell. If you have not had the pleasure, it’s definitely worth the trip!
