During the American Revolution, Continental soldiers will march up and down the 13 colonies. Often, they will make camp along their route to sleep for the night.

The Continental Army contract special workers called Baggage Teamsters specifically to transport things such as food, clothes, and yes, tents. They are not a part of the regular army and do not participate in battles unless they are attacked.

Tents camouflage and protect soldiers from harsh weather conditions as well as natural elements. The material used is called “duck” but it is not made from real ducks. The material is either cotton or hemp.
