Tents Situation

During the American Revolution, Continental soldiers would march up and down the 13 colonies. Often, they would make camp along their route to sleep for the night.

The Continental Army contracted special workers called Baggage Teamsters specifically to transport things such as food, clothes, and yes, tents. They were not a part of the regular army and did not participate in battles unless they were attacked.

Tents camouflage and protect soldiers from harsh weather conditions as well as natural elements. The material used is called “duck” but it is not made from real ducks. The material is either cotton or hemp.
