Laurel Hill’s Annual RIP5K
Run With the Spirits of Philadelphia
There are places where history is remembered.
And then there are places where it feels as though history is still watching.
Each year, Laurel Hill Cemetery opens its historic Victorian garden grounds for one of Philadelphia’s most unusual and unforgettable 5K races. The RIP 5K invites you to run, walk, or do both as you make your way through winding paths, towering trees, magnificent monuments, and the final resting places of those who helped shape the city we know today.
Come to race. Come to wander. Come to pay your respects.
And come prepared for a little mystery.
Costumes are not only welcome—they are encouraged. Whether you arrive as a ghost, a ghoul, a creature of the night, or something entirely your own, the RIP 5K promises an experience where history, imagination, and celebration meet among the shadows.
Following the race, participants are invited to an after-party celebrating the runners and walkers who make the event possible. Enjoy beer and non-alcoholic beverages, with your first drink free as part of your participation.
Awards are presented to race participants, and a costume contest adds another chance to claim your place among the evening's most memorable characters.
Most importantly, your participation helps preserve the legacy of this extraordinary historic landscape. Proceeds benefit the Friends of Laurel Hill, supporting the continued care and preservation of Laurel Hill Cemetery.
Run. Walk. Remember.
Whether you're chasing a personal best or simply looking for an unforgettable way to experience one of Philadelphia’s most historic places, the RIP 5K offers a night unlike any other.
